A gentle observation of a turbulent time as 11-year-olds Benny and Alfred learn what their hearts already know.
Features
Cute boys, hot sex, and a killer original soundtrack are all highlights of this modern gay drama about falling in love, breaking up, and all the difficult spaces in between. BETWEEN LOVE AND GOODBYE tells the story of a young gay couple torn between love for each other and commitment to family. Marcel and Kyle are blissfully in love when Marcel’s student visa expires, threatening to send him back home to France. Marcel marries his lesbian friend Sarah so he can stay in the States with Kyle. Things are going fine until Kyle’s estranged sister April shows up and wants to stay with them while she gets her life back together. She takes a quick dislike to Marcel, and Kyle and Marcel’s relationship hits a rough patch, jeopardizing their domestic bliss and throwing them into a tangled mess of emotions. The drama runs high, and BETWEEN LOVE AND GOODBYE vividly details it every step of the way.
Documentary
Take a hot and hip road trip through the changing sexual landscape of America. Featuring interviews with Michael Musto, Seattle’s own Dan Savage, and Jonathan Caouette (TARNATION), the documentary BI THE WAY battles stereotypes against those who don’t fit in the typical sexual orientation binary (gay or straight), and it uncovers the myths behind the infamous “generation whatever.”
Is it simply the desire to try new things that drives the so-called sexual revolution of this generation? Could the latest findings shed light on the possibility of someone having physical yearnings for one gender but romantic feelings for another? Directors Brittany Blockman and Josephine Decker lead the way in rethinking and redrawing the map of sexuality altogether.
Shorts
This beautiful and stylish film artfully explores the potent creative collaboration between Mani Bruce Mitchell, an intersex activist, and the acclaimed photographer Rebecca Swan, introducing viewers to notions of fluid gender identity and challenging the rigid categories of “male” and “female.”

Victor is a slick real estate agent in Madrid’s Chueca district with a dirty little secret: he’s murdering old ladies in order to buy their apartments and build a perfect gay neighborhood where the poor and portly need not apply. At first the police believe the deaths are suicides, but when Leo (Pepon Nieto) and Rey (Carlos Fuentes)—a pair of comic book-loving bears—inherit the apartment of the latest victim, the multi-phobic Inspector Mila (Rosa Maria Sardà) suspects something more sinister. To make matters even worse, Rey’s harpy of a mother moves in and schemes to push Leo out of the picture, his ex-boyfriend goes on the prowl, and even Mila’s son Luis begins questioning more than just the suspects. Just when it looks like all is lost for Leo, he finds an unlikely ally in Victor, and soon the neighborhood of Chueca is popping with comic mishaps, seductions, and an evergrowing pile of dead bodies. Spanish director Juan Flahn’s farce combines rapid-fire dialogue, crisp characterization, and high production values to make BOYSTOWN one of the best in its genre.
