Love may never die, but nothing human loves forever in this stylish thriller epitomizing ‘80s chic and featuring three of the most alluring stars ever to be intertwined. Based on the novel by Whitley Strieber, THE HUNGER joins together captivating French cinema great Catherine Deneuve and British rock legend David Bowie as Miriam and John, two ageless vampires living in a luxurious Manhattan apartment and posing as a Gothic punk couple. When John abruptly begins to age, he turns to a beautiful geriatrics researcher, Dr. Sarah Roberts (Susan Sarandon), for rescue and restoration. But Miriam has plans of her own for the young doctor, who is entranced by Miriam from the moment they meet, culminating in a white-hot, transformative coupling for the ages.
Director Tony Scott (brother of Ridley) went on to helm TOP GUN (only somewhat less homoerotic) after his debut with this bold and atmospheric spectacle of highfashion and vampire noir. Equally erotic and horrifying, this cult classic tale of lust and evil will lure you from the hypnotic bliss of its iconic lesbian love scene to the edge-of-your-seat finale. |
