Documentary/Special Presentation
This unique multimedia project spotlights the moving stories of 13 couples whose lives were profoundly affected by Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that eliminated same-sex couples’ right to marry in California. In the media campaign leading up to the hotly contested November 2008 vote, missing were images of the couples whose relationships hung in the balance. 13 LOVE STORIES presents a diverse cross-section of committed same-sex couples exposing their private relationships to a public audience, in the hopes that their tales of love can help change attitudes and combat the injustice incurred by the passing of Prop 8. With the vote looming in Washington State on Referendum 71 (which would affirm or reject the recently expanded domestic partnership law for our state’s same-sex couples), 13 LOVE STORIES will be screened for FREE, twice a day for eight days, at the 2009 Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival Lounge at Capitol Hill’s Cupcake Royale, 1111 E. Pike St. Stop by at 3:00pm or 8:00pm from Saturday, Oct. 17 through Saturday, Oct. 24 to watch 13 LOVE STORIES.

Documentary
Amancio Corrales was well known in clubs throughout the Southwest for his drag perfomances. Amancio was dressed as a woman the night he was murdered. Yuma authorities let the investigation become a cold case that would never have been solved. Michael Baughman, without ever knowing Amancio, kept the story alive in the media and in the minds of reluctant law enforcement. Three years after his murder this film explores Amancio's memory through eyes of his family, friends, and a very important stranger. - Stephanie Hanna-Chambers

It’s 1973, a time of redefinition and rapid change both cultural and personal. Harry Goodhart (Tate Donovan from TV’s “Damages”) is a British widower who moves with his two teenage daughters, Madeline and Daisy, to Cape Cod for a fresh start at business and life. At the same time, he struggles (and fails) to keep a secret that threatens to tear his family apart: he is gay, and his business partner Theo (Adam Pascal, “Rent”) is his boyfriend. All Madeline wants to do is fit in at school, but now she must be the “new kid” and deal with this taboo as well. What if the cool kids at school find out? How could her father do this to her? Gwen Wynne's feature film debut explores the clash between family values and shifting sexual mores during a time of social and political upheaval. With powerful performances that are alternately funny and heartbreaking, this drama, viewed from Madeline’s perspective and inspired by events in Wynne’s life, examines the meaning of family and love in a generation steeped in change, giving us a glimpse into the complex emotions surrounding an issue just emerging from silence and shame.
Shorts/Subtitled
In this celebration of friendship and change, a hairdresser joins forces with a stranger to embark on a journey of transformation.
Feature
In a fast-paced race against time, Lola has three chances to dash across the city to her partner’s rescue. No, this isn’t RUN LOLA RUN but a sexy and hilarious lesbian homage to that classic rush of a film. This time Lola (Ashleigh Sumner) is a talented but distracted San Francisco photographer who has to deliver some prints in a hurry to her gal Casey (Jill Bennett) way across town. It may not be a matter of life and death, but when every passing minute is one minute closer to Lola losing her girlfriend to an alluring seductress (who is also Lola’s ex), Lola has every reason to risk life and limb to get there in time. From the Embarcadero to Dolores Park to Chinatown, Lola sprints, bikes, hitches rides, and flirts her way past many obstacles, including a feisty meter maid, an angry dog, a runaway subway car, and another ex. Reimagining Lola’s frantic journey three times, AND THEN CAME LOLA delivers funny, imaginative animated sequences and steamy “what if?” erotic teases (a threesome? meter maid bondage? anonymous alley sex?), and shows how a single decision can create a domino effect of events. Guests in attendance Please join us for a post-screening reception at Healeo, 1520 15th Ave., 8:00pm
