This unique multimedia project spotlights the moving stories of 13 couples whose lives were profoundly affected by Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that eliminated same-sex couples’ right to marry in California.
In the media campaign leading up to the hotly contested November 2008 vote, missing were images of the couples whose relationships hung in the balance. 13 LOVE STORIES presents a diverse cross-section of committed same-sex couples exposing their private relationships to a public audience, in the hopes that their tales of love can help change attitudes and combat the injustice incurred by the passing of Prop 8.
With the vote looming in Washington State on Referendum 71 (which would affirm or reject the recently expanded domestic partnership law for our state’s same-sex couples), 13 LOVE STORIES will be screened for FREE, twice a day for eight days, at the 2009 Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival Lounge at Capitol Hill’s Cupcake Royale, 1111 E. Pike St. Stop by at 3:00pm or 8:00pm from Saturday, Oct. 17 through Saturday, Oct. 24 to watch 13 LOVE STORIES.
