Satur-Gay Morning Cartoons
Categories: Shorts Program
Average Rating:
Rated 3.923643841713272/5 Stars
My Rating:
Run time: 90 min.
From the latest in animation to old-school cartoon classics with homo undertones and obviously queer characters, this colorful collection of shorts is a trip through memories and imagination. We can’t name all of the Saturday morning icons you’ll see (some as never before), but rest assured that plenty of familiar characters will appear to entertain you into the afternoon, served up with a buffet breakfast bar of sugary cereals and fruity treats.

Program intended for mature audiences. Includes classic cartoons, plus these new short films:

MAKE A MATE
Jennifer Jordan Day; 2009; US; 4 min.
What makes a perfect mate? All the right ingredients go into this lighthearted story about finding true love.

A DAY AT THE BEACH
Veronique Courtois; 2008; US; 3 min.
Brad and Sally make the most of a revealing day at the beach.

THE ISLAND
Trevor Anderson; 2008; Canada; 5 min.
What would happen if all the gays were banished to an island? It’s wilder than you can imagine.

WE ARE FAMILY
2005; US; 5 min.
This musical message of tolerance, based on the classic disco hit, includes over 100 beloved children’s characters, and was the video that homophobic groups cited as the “outing” of Spongebob Squarepants.

LITTLE BFFS
Steven Corfe and Glenn Gaylord; 2009; US; 5 min
It’s fun to play with dolls, especially when they’re pervy little potty mouths.

A lot of great content; cartoons, commercials, and recent short films. I remember almost all of these cartoons and only in retrospect realize how GAY they are. I'm not sure they would be so readily accepted today. One of the stand-outs is The Island, well done and leaves you thinking that maybe it wouldn't be so bad, at least as a vacation spot. And the commercial where Spiderman says ‘thanks handsome’ to the Hulk – priceless.
